Awards

The Bexar County Clerk’s Office has recently been honored by the Texas Association of Counties (TAC), National Association of Counties (NACo), and the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials, and Treasurers (IACREOT).

The Texas Association Counties Leadership Foundation rewards efficiency in local government by bestowing County Best Practice Awards to serving individuals. According to the organization’s website, the awards program highlights innovation and distributes vital information on what's working in county government, encourages recognition and inspiration for all county leaders; and improves the general public's perception of their county government and the value of their county's programs. Since the program’s inception in 2000 the Bexar County Clerk’s Office has twice been awarded with County Best Practice Awards; first in 2007 for Outstanding Achievement for the restoration, translation, and historic preservation of its historic Spanish Archives, and again in 2009, for Innovation and Use of Technology for the Bexar County Foreclosure Map Website.

The Bexar County Foreclosure Map Website has also earned the office recognition from national and international professional organizations. In 2010, the office received an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties, and the Eagle Award from the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials, and Treasurers (IACREOT). The NACo Achievement Award recognizes innovative county government programs that meet certain performance criteria determined by the organization. The IACREOT Eagle Award (according to their website)recognizes excellence in office accomplishments by offering a special award that acknowledges success in overcoming challenges. An award is given out annually in each division (clerks, recorders, elections officials and treasurers) when a best practice is submitted which shines above the rest in the field.

Mr. Rickhoff and the Bexar County Clerk’s Office are delighted to be honored by their peers and colleagues from these organizations. The office looks forward to continuing to develop new and innovative approaches to preserving the public records and providing easy public access to recorded documents.
